Remember the reports from a few days ago talking about “a new game set in the Titanfall universe?”

This is related to that, most probably.

To me, this says they’re trying to go the LoL route and make a bunch of little spin-off games based around the individual heroes, all priced at $25-30, and probably a few hours worth of playtime.

    Hard pass.

Hopefully they make very different games in the same universe that are good in its own right to build in a bit of lore to make the world more interesting.

Like maybe an Xcom-like game that gives context for how the Battle Royale system fits in with the rest of the universe. That should be a standalone game, not some MTX ridden pile of crap. If they can make that successful as well, that’s a gateway into other lucrative games like CCGs.

But they’ll probably just go straight for those other lucrative genres without really interesting them. That’s how you get something like Hearthstone, which is overly simplified and pay to win. That makes money too, but it’s less fun for players because there’s no real lore to make it interesting. That’s what EA does, and why I generally avoid their games.

Well, it was good while it lasted.

Now presumably comes the phase where the devs get overextended because the publisher pushes them to make more money and create some Fortnite-like “ecosystem,” while the main game that attracted fans gets put on life support to prioritize all the other content.
