“They have backed up their genocidal rhetoric with a program to develop nuclear weapons.”

Netanyahu’s not in the best position to accuse others of genocidal rhetoric backed up with powerful weaponry.

Trump started all this shit when he ruined the last nuclear deal in his first term.

He sure is great at fucking everything up, and sowing chaos.

Are they running out of people to murder in Gaza? Or do they just need someone to fight back, so they can look oppressed?

Neither. Internal politics in Israel threatened to break up the government, and starting a war with Iran was the easiest way to stop that. Can’t break up the government now, we’re in a state of emergency!

Bibi would sooner burn down all of Israel than step down from power.

Yep, exactly this. He’d rather destroy the entire country than lose power, in part because as soon as he loses power he’s likely going to prison for the rest of his life.

The moment they stop fighting is the moment they have to collectively come to terms with what they have done as a nation. Netanyahoo has to keep it going.

The US is obligated by law, to keep sending them weapons in order to maintain a “qualitative military edge” against all potential threats. This unfortunately incentivizes Israel to maintain a high threat level, in order to increase the amount of weapons it receives.

“By law”. It’s just a convenient excuse for genocidal immorality. It’s not like words on paper matter to anyone in power in the West, you’d definitely be blind to think otherwise.

You had me in the first sentence; not gonna lie. The second one, though, just goes off the rails.

        I think I don’t like war. Period.

I can realistically understand the reasons given for it, but that’s never going to make me like it.

Crazy that within just a couple weeks Ukraine and now Israel have successfully smuggled drones into a country. Terrifying new vector of war.

I mean yeah, democratic decline, dwindling ressources and climate change are putting the world on a path to a lot more conflict. This is going to be the new normal going forward if we don’t manage to stop the underlying problems. Doesn’t mean there will be a massive world war, but it definitely means there will be more significant wars.

Will not, world war cost a lot for the country involved, this might just be another regional war and proxy war combined.

What will the USA and Israel do? Bomb them to death and? Invade? Without an army in the ground you can’t really win. Which of their lackeys can they send, the turks? The saudis? Good luck with that.

Take out the Iranian regime that’s holding their country hostage and Iranians will do the rest themselves.
