I remember from history class that a boat of Jewish refugees was turned away from several ports during WW2. Wild to have lived long enough to see that reason completely flip and have a decadent cruise turned away for supporting genocide.

I hear this a lot, but I don’t think it’s the gotcha people claim it is. Most genocide in the modern day tries to aim for economic strangling by eliminating/stealing what few opportunities exist for some populations. See, for instance, the IDF’s efforts to starve Gaza rather than shoot every single Palestinian. If they are not welcome to vacation destinations and everywhere they go they are reminded that their country is proudly slaughtering and starving people—if they’re not given any room to pretend things are normal, they will demand an ability to return to normal. They would pressure their govt to stop the genocide.
