I don’t know why Nintendo feel the need to get so overly protective over displays of their games (streaming, competitions, so on). There’s been so many games I have bought because I saw someone play it on a stream or something and thought it was neat. What are they even losing out on? They are just shooting themselves in the foot here.
Chill the fuck out Nintendo. Money hungry weirdos
can Nintendo just stop sucking ass for one goddamn second
People keep buying their games no matter what, surprisingly.
Because the vast majority of people don’t have any idea about Nintendo’s litigious nature.
It’s easy to assume that the general population has the same knowledge you do, but just by being on Lemmy you’re likely way more informed than 99% of people.
I see this mindset in the IT world all the time.
unsurprisingly you mean. gamers are the least principled, and an even less disciplined customer base, barely ahead of hard drug addicts.
edit: the downvotes made me realize i was wrong. i take it back.
wait lol no i don’t
The more I hear about nintendo fighting their fans the more this feels like an abusive relationship and I am only with nintendo for the drugs.
During a good sale Steam can sell you so much more
gamesdrugs. $80 agamehit are you kidding me? I have a Steam library full of hundreds ofgamesdrugs I’ve scored for pennies.Donkey Kong was 90€ if I would have bought it from Nintendo directly
Many switch games get deep discounts too, and you can get free 1st party titles if you borrow a physical copy. That’s a pretty weak argument.
I’ve never seen the Zelda from 2017 go lower than 50€, USED. Great deep discount for an 8 years old game!

All time low:
Physical $22.49 (-63%)
Digital $26.99 (-55%)Same site, exact same link.
Maybe not as deep a cut, but certainly cheaper than the above comment’s claim that the game has never been below €50.
They didn’t say it was never below €50, they said they had never personally seen it below €50.
Not sure if that’s the right link (lol) but the prices you quoted here are way off. All of them are €58+.
Oh yeah… my mistake, I looked again and found one /s
Do you want to play it or do you collect games? If you want to play it then you can sell it afterwards. No rush because it’s not getting any discounts so it holds value quite well.
I’ve bought my copy for €37:
many games on the switch get big discounts, absolutely
games published by nintendo? not so much
and by the thing you mean about getting free games with borrowing a physical copy. im assuming you’re talking about the gold points, which have been removed some time ago now
People can access most of my Steam library if I share it with them.
I can’t tell if this is cope or Kool-Aid.
Yo ho, yo ho…
