International visitors to one of the world’s largest tourist destinations dropped 13% in June as workers face layoffs

The Trump administration’s immigration policies are affecting workers and driving, in part, a decline in tourism, including international tourists, to Las Vegas, according to workers and the largest labor union in the state of Nevada.

Visitors to Las Vegas overall dropped 11.3% in June 2025, compared to the same month last year. According to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, international visitors to one of the world’s largest tourist destinations dropped 13% in June.

“A lot of departments are having a lot of layoffs,” said Norma Torres, a housekeeper for eight years at Mandalay Bay and a member of the Culinary Union, who has worked in the hospitality industry since she was 18 years old. “In the housekeeping department, the people on call are barely called into work.”

    Trumpcession

Remember when our economy was in the shitter because of a global pandemic and an old guy named Biden came in and passed a bunch of useful legislation that resulted in us having a lower inflation rate than virtually every other nation and the fastest job growth in American history, then everyone decided he was too old and wasn’t demanding some other country on the other side of the planet stop genociding and so we decided to go with an equally old felon rapist pedophile with a lifetime of failed business ventures and a fetish for fascism instead?

        Blah blah blah.

        1. Surprise surprise. International relations are complicated. It’s awkward when an old ally and your most important ally in the Middle East, who you are deeply involved with in a plethora of ways, ramps up their everlasting war with a neighbor. You don’t want to lose them, so you do things like float arms shipment cancellations and try to help broker a peace deal, which is exactly what Biden did.

        2. That’s on the other fucking side of the planet bud. You may want to focus on the health of our democracy right here at home before worrying about people killing each other on the other side of the planet because that’s ALWAYS going to be happening and weird how you don’t talk about all the other places it’s CURRENTLY happening.

        3. Oops, we let a fascist party who gives exactly ZERO fucks about Palestine take control of our nation. I’m sure that’ll help Palestinians.

Let me make this abundantly clear. I care WAY MORE about OUR democracy HERE in OUR country than I do about two other nations on the other side of the planet continuing some dumbshit religious conflict.

            It doesn’t.

I have fascism in my own country to deal with.

Because a bunch of dumb assholes stayed home or voted 3rd party while the GOP was advertising fascism as a policy platform.
