I think in this day and age it might be a good idea if instead of starting a convenience store you partner up with one of the grocery delivery stores. So people could just order the same dishes.
It is a good point that the trick to good food is often in the preparation. Making bases for sauces, stock etc which only really makes sense to do properly scale. So do it at the restaurant and sell the same pre-prepared stuff to consumers.
Well, it could have happened to worse things, but this is a good start.
