I’ve had this game on PC for ages. I had a lot of fun playing it when I got it.

Argh! The painful reminder that my mom gave my cousin my Dreamcast while she was packing up the house because “I thought she might enjoy it.” The same cousin who was also given my pristine NES a few years before that.
it’s free…wait…weren’t all Dreamcast games free? cause I’ve had my DC since '99 and I can’t even recall a time that I actually bought a DC game.
Silly Sega forgot to make effective copy protection for it so it was remarkably easy to just copy a game to a CD with the right software.
I don’t feel bad for doing it since I only got the system after they discontinued everything and it was on sale at KB Toys for $25.
When I was a kid I had a disc that had some 100-200 SNES games burned onto it. No idea how we got it… My guess is my dad got it from a friend or something.
I played the shit out of Earth Defense Force, Knights of the Round, and Gundam Wing: Endless Duel with my Dreamcast. Though my mom made me stop playing Gundam Wing because one of the Gundam was called Deathscythe and Satanic Panic was in full swing.
there used to be entire IRC channels set up just for sharing Dreamcast games as you could file share via mIRC. that’s where I got all my games. just burned them to a CD-R and that was that.
It’s looking like I’m going to have to dust off my CD burner.
This is cool and all, but why Dreamcast? This seems it could run on anything from NES and up possibly.
Maybe the developer only develops premium games for premium gamers?
But Dreamcast wasn’t even a popular console, so not sure that dips into “Premium Gaming”.
You are missing the reference.
Am I?
It’s a fledgling reference, but yes.
Why not? I think it’s just an interesting side project fo the dev. This is a port of the original version for modern home computers, so it’s not like they’re limiting their audience.
But I would suggest that while it should be possible to make a good adaptation for 3rd generation systems (NES etc.), you’re not going to be able to make a substantially similar product until you reach at least the 5th generation (PlayStation etc.), and perhaps not even then. The blurry parallax backgrounds, high number of particles, and level of detail make it necessary.
