But it’s a good thing you clarified that you meant H. sapiens, since there’s a strong argument to be made that earlier Homo species are also human. (And also that battles were had even before the divergence of Homo from Hominini.)
Firstly, I dont condone war or violence, I think we are smart enough to resolve issues without it now.
But generally speaking, there are massive benefits if youre the winner in a conflict. New resources, new land, new labor force (assuming you dont wipe everyone out completely), reinforcement of your culture and ideaologies, and more. Theres a reason violece is inherit to human nature, it has a long history as a viable and successful strategy.
Maybe the “battle” and “soldier” memes are an outgrowth of the military industrial complex, and just maybe we’d be better off abandoning them.
Oh fuck it’s the lemmy shitpost police
dude, that’s outgrowth of law enforcement, maybe we’re better off abandoning the analogy
I think those predate the MIC, and even written language. See e.g. The Epic of Gilgamesh.
Ya we were having battles and shit before humans were humans (i.e. pre Homo sapien)
Homo sapiens* the s is not for plural.

Oops! Thanks for correction!
Ya I think Homo literally translates to man so H. Erectus, habilis, etc. I think are regarded as humans? Its not my field tbh
Gee, maybe we can be done with it, since we’ve been doing it so long, and it’s had so many adverse consequences?
