Some dumbass sumbitch eating this up. Unfortunately it’s like 50x that. So many dumb motherfuckers, not enough natural disasters to help the rest of us along.
What’s wild about this is that people predicted AI would be used for nefarious purposes, but generally in the form of like, showing your opponents doing crimes. But here it’s being used to show their own side doing crimes while the other side is only made to look “cringy” or more like a stereotype.
It really speaks to the utter depravity of the US right that, given a machine that can generate any video of anything they could imagine, this is what they do. These people are utterly incompatible with any kind of free or even functional society, and I really don’t know what could ever be done fix them or their culture.
The smartest move I ever made was dropping all mainstream social media. I don’t get any of this BS. Meta, Twitter, and Reddit are a plague on society and I’ll have no part in it.
What would prevent Lemmy from becoming another Reddit if it gains the same user count? Not promoting specific users only because they have a lot of Karma?
It’s not moderated the same way as Reddit

People have always been easy to manipulate. Especially in the type of social and ideological isolation the internet age has brought about. That’s why most city people are less right wing. Hard to villainize groups of people when you interact with them daily. Also hard to isolate into ideological containers when you interact with varied points of view contrary to your bubble.
Human psychology is the same no matter the tech.
It just makes it easier.
And deadlier.

If they can take something like “woke” and use it to mean something bad, we can take infowars and use it for something good (and correct/accurate). Make that usage of the word the default when people hear it, not the other thing.

Anyone acting out violently should be culled from society. Not partisan issue. I definitely lean like way left and there is much to be done without murder. Work ‘em into a frenzy. Always have. Most of them have never met the people they’ve been taught to hate. Or believe for some reason that the few they know are some sort of exception. The token “good ones”.
Right they hate these straw people. I mean, I;m not going to say my own cognitive projection of “conservative” is 100% accurate, but at least my nightmare scenarios are about actual bad things happening, and not like conservative nightmares of genetically inferior people getting to enjoy the gifts of civilization.
The difference between us and them is that we don’t want to do things to hurt them. Far from it. We honestly want to do things to help them. When we do hate them, it’s not for who they are, but who they choose to be. And that makes all the difference.
Even if the images were real, I see a woman using her first amendment right to speech and assembly being assaulted by someone who has sworn to uphold the constitution.
That’s the point. The right gets off on their enemies suffering. It’s insane considering the type of freedom trampling they claimed of the left wanted for decades is now celebrated when it’s actually happening.
This is actually pretty scary because they can just put their enemies in the videos to justify arresting people they don’t like
Not much different than grabbing the neighbors and telling them to say a few statements as witnesses, false or true. A new spin on an old game.
