NEW YORK — Leaders of Young Republican groups throughout the country worried what would happen if their Telegram chat ever got leaked, but they kept typing anyway.

They referred to Black people as monkeys and “the watermelon people” and mused about putting their political opponents in gas chambers. They talked about raping their enemies and driving them to suicide and lauded Republicans who they believed support slavery.

I’d love to say this surprises me, but it does not in the slightest.

NYS Assembly benefits administrator here. I can’t wait to process the termination paperwork for Peter Giunta. It will be the highlight of my work week.

Peter Giunta, who at the time was chair of the same organization, wrote in a message sent in June that “everyone that votes no is going to the gas chamber.”

And instead of disavowing these scumbags, JD Vance is saying it’s not a big deal.

Just more “locker room” talk from the fascists.

It’s amazing to me that there are genuinely this many white nationalists/nazis irl. I honestly had no clue people were this awful and prevalent.

I’ve never seen people more openly willing to hate other humans based on race, gender or sex.

Why do we get to exist as a species if we are this toxic to ourselves?

People need to go play Mike Tyson knockout with these people. Even the women. Nazi’s should be walking scared. Give them no peace.

Indeed. If you’re a fan of Hitler, follow his example and take yourself out. Save the rest of us the bullet.

And some idiot in one discussion still tries to convince me there is a difference between Republicans and Nazis…

As if to put an even finer point on it. I just watched blackkklansman today and they really hammered home that that bullshit is not in the past, it is the present reality we live in. Opening lemmy to see the exact shit the white supremacists in the movie spewed is almost poetic in a fucked up way.

I’d love to say this surprises me, but it does not in the slightest.

100%. These assholes have been trained to gaslight and trot out nonsense about Robert Byrd being in the Klan like 100 years ago, or that Democrats were the real racists because of shit that happened before the 1960s, and completely ignoring (or lying about) things like the Southern Strategy and how the parties completely re-aligned since the Civil Rights era.

Thing is, I’m a white guy and I know how these motherfuckers talk when they think they are in a safe space. I grew up in an area that was overwhelmingly Republican, deeply racist and nearly 100% white.

They ain’t fooling me, I can tell you that much. This ain’t my first rodeo, I’ve heard all this shit before, and I’ve seen these mofos in action online since the BBS days, and shortly after that, the USENET days. I don’t care what kind of rhetoric they try to dress their “movement” up with and it doesn’t matter what protocol or platform they are on…their methods and tactics like employing the Gish Gallop should not fool anyone, either.

and how the parties completely re-aligned since the Civil Rights era.

“Completely” is wrong. The economically progressive policy on one side and crony-capitalist on the other have not shifted places.

One can rather describe it in the “Nazi bar” terms, racists jumped from the Democrat “bar” to the Republican “bar” and changed it for their ideas, but only where the racist categories were not orthogonal.

What is so goddamned infuriating is how the RW assholes like Tucker pull that Murc’s Law shit - that if he finds that he “has” to vote for fascists, it is the liberals that made him do it, because they have been (rightly) pointing out what fascists the Republicans and conservatives really and truly are.

That’s some serious mental gymnastics there - the fascists that keep showing their hand are going to end up fascists because the meanie smarty-pants liberals called them fascists, and that’s the only reason they are fascists. Well, that, and most entertainment and universities and science and culture really are not overly friendly to the far right, and even might have - gasp - not attacked the already-marginalized. Those monsters. Yep, it’s entirely the fault of the “woke” mind virus that the fascists became fascists who voted for other fascists. No other reason. Some blue-haired trans with too many face piercings stole their masculinity or something.

Even worse, the fucking Tone Police among the “centrists”, the corporate/conservative mainstream media that is called the “liberal media”, and not a few Democrats help them in this bullshit narrative.

This is the Streisand Effect across generations.

Censorship doesn’t work the way you people or your puppet-masters want it to. It just makes things worse.
