On the national stage over promise and under deliver. At a local level you need to know your audience more, but still have a strong vision. Even if it’s unachievable. Unlike traditional Democrats who promise very little (or nothing in Harris’s case) and deliver almost nothing.

Watching Mamdani talk, the man has what it takes. Even going on a show which would be traditionally, and was slightly hostile to him like morning Joe. He handled everything thrown at him perfectly and affably.

But then I’m just a Midwesterner watching from afar. However, friends in the boroughs are very responsive to him and have positive views. And these are the people he’s running for.

Harris had a ton of achievements as Biden’s VP.

Let’s revisit this in two years and see if Mamdani gets anything he said done because he’s set a high bar for himself here.

Biden’s/Harris’s PR team was historically dog shit. Biden wasn’t perfect by any stretch but he’s easily a top two president in the last 40+ years. Unfortunately I don’t think that his work will really be appreciated for many years, assuming it’s not all completely undone.

Democrats always have some. The problem is. Go ask most people what they were. If no one knows, no one cares. Messaging is important. Something Democrats have rejected for decades now. Even if Mamdani accomplishes nothing. Good messaging can make up for that. And you won’t get a chance to succeed or fail if you don’t get in.

I’d rather a people who sets achievable goals for themselves vs someone who’s just feeding you lip service and it’ll be interesting to see which he is.

I would like it if that’s how politics worked. You and I both know how stupid the public is though. You and I care about such things. Calling the average person’s political understanding and memory, goldfish-brained. Is an insult and severe injustice to goldfish and koi everywhere. Sadly, politicians have to play jingle-keys.
