It’s referencing 2 things. First, it’s referencing how kids often think that their home is like a prison, because they view their parents as being overbearing, suppressing their freedom of choice. Second, it’s referencing stereotypical prison life, such as marking down the number of days on the wall, and fashioning shivs so you can shank people. More specifically, it references the prison movie Shawshank Redemption, which famously includes a scene where :::spoiler movie spoilers
the main character escapes from prison by digging a hole in his cell wall and hiding it behind a poster. ::: The poster in the comic is the actual poster used to advertise the referenced movie. The joke is that, while kids will usually say their house is like a prison and leave it at that, this kid is acting as if they’re actually in prison.

Hole that size, she could’ve left a while ago.

She wanted to shiv him a few times before she left.

Comic Strips is a community for those who love comic stories.

The rules are simple:

  • The post can be a single image, an image gallery, or a link to a specific comic hosted on another site (the author’s website, for instance).
  • The comic must be a complete story.
  • If it is an external link, it must be to a specific story, not to the root of the site.
  • You may post comics from others or your own.
  • If you are posting a comic of your own, a maximum of one per week is allowed (I know, your comics are great, but this rule helps avoid spam).
  • The comic can be in any language, but if it’s not in English, OP must include an English translation in the post’s ‘body’ field (note: you don’t need to select a specific language when posting a comic).
  • Politeness.
  • AI-generated comics aren’t allowed.
  • Adult content is not allowed. This community aims to be fun for people of all ages.
