Texas Governor Greg Abbott has said he would “impose a 100 percent tariff” on New Yorkers moving to Texas.
“After the polls close tomorrow night, I will impose a 100% tariff on anyone moving to Texas from NYC,” the Republican wrote on X on Monday night.
Abbott’s post came on the eve of New York City’s mayoral election, in which Democrat Zohran Mamdani is the frontrunner. He is facing former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo—who is running as an independent after Mamdani emerged victorious in the Democratic primary in June—and Republican Curtis Sliwa.
Is “tariff” now the new “woke”? A term without any meaning that Republicans throw around just to give their brainless followers a starting point from which they can see their deluded fantasies as seemingly rooted in reality?
So something along the lines of: “100 percent tariffs will teach you what happens when you are woke” or some other stupid crap like that.
It’s hard to believe, but somehow US news are getting more absurd by the day, even though it should have reached rock bottom long ago…
He’s probably trying to use it as some code for taxes that the chuds won’t freak out about. If it’s just a tariff, then it can be negotiated and exceptions can be made or something.
They’ve always been doing this to language ever since I can remember. See how they misuse terms like “freedom”, “liberty”, “patriotic”, “political correctness”, “activist”, and on and on…

People think it’s NBD, but the Confederate Party, almost to a one, simply cannot bring themselves to say the proper name of the DemocratIC Party, too. It’d be one thing if it was just the yokels in the base, but no, it’s virtually all of them that simply refuse to say the actual name of the opposition party.
I sometimes wonder if that is not related to their other distortions.
And of course the compliant “liberal media” has never questioned them on this. Not that I’ve ever seen anyway. And the conservatives have been doing this for decades in a coordinated way. Just, for once, I’d like to see some reporter ask one of these assholes a rather basic question: “You know the correct name for the DemocratIC Party. Are you somehow unable to say it? Will you be cast out of the Republican Party?”
