    Hey look.

    Republicans further weakening our nation…again.

Man. I grew up really thinking America would have the balls to handle a traitorous president or party.

    I was dead wrong.

My father used to tell jokes about the GDR and Soviet Union when I was a kid. I was in kindergarten when the Berlin wall fell. Nowadays you can tell almost the same jokes about the US…

Question for the radio station Eriwan: Could the catastrophe of Chernobyl have been avoided? Answer: Principally yes, if only Sweden hadn’t spilled the beans.

Question for the radio station Eriwan: Is there censorship in the Soviet Union? Answer: Principally no, but unfortunately we are unable to further elaborate.

Question for the radio station Eriwan: How does the soviet government act in a crisis? Answer: We do not provide information regarding the state of our Agriculture sector.

Question for the radio station Eriwan: Is it difficult to go to the moon? Answer: Principally no, but how do we convince our cosmonauts to come back again?

Looking forward to reusing them for the US.

It’s Yerevan, the capital of Armenia. In Russian those jokes were “Armenian radio is asked”

Quite interesting how regional variations have the same joke structure but has a different name for a radio station

Eriwan is the German name for Yerevan, or the old German spelling, I think nowadays it’s Jerewan.

Yeah, no, that’s normal. I mean that it’s “Armenian radio” in Russia but “radio Eriwan” in German. Floating translation and all that

The shithead with a mustache also only had yes-men. Videos of him presiding over battle plans in his bunker showed him confident about their chances. I’m pretty sure they lost. We can only hope yes-man tank this admin before we go to war.

A well known rendition of him doing this also showed when those yes-men ran into the problem where they couldn’t spin things anymore. So he threw them all under the bus because it was obviously their fault. Projection and blameshifting til the end.

The allies actually stopped trying to assassinate Hitler in the latter years of the war because he was causing more and more damage to his own cause by firing people who knew what they were doing and replacing them with yes-men.

      See below.

Doing some more research it seems that people argued against assassinating Hitler for that reason, but they weren’t listened to.

Eventually in Nazi Germany it became more dangerous to enrage the Feuer… Than it was being wrong

This greatly assisted in their defeat

Let us hope it works again

This is the weakness of authoritarian regimes. Putin’s guys were all telling him what he wanted to hear in the lead up to the invasion on Ukraine. “They’ll greet us as liberators, it’ll be over in a week, two weeks tops.”

Next comes the corruption. You know your job is solely about telling the boss what he wants to hear, which will often be lies. If you’re a liar and in control of a procurement budget, you can move the money for your own benefit. You’ll have to lie to your boss about spending the money for what it’s intended, but since you have your job because you’re willing to lie to your boss, why not lie about how your budget was spent?

So you want someone else to do a violent resistance while you sit on your ass watching it on TV? Maybe you can make some popcorn to munch on while watching people die?

The resistance could use leaders with experience and the know how to organize, supply, and inspire. Not everyone can be a leader.

A leader has to inspire people to join and follow. Inspiration to have the courage to stand up and put your life at risk. So yes, inspire. It takes a lot to convince someone that the risk they are taking is worth it and that it has a good chance to pay off.

Peter’s Evil Overlord List #32 - will not fly into a rage and kill a messenger who brings me bad news just to illustrate how evil I really am. Good messengers are hard to come by.

He is failing simple things from a listicle from 1996…

When I employ people as advisors, I will occasionally listen to their advice

I will not have a son. Although his laughably under-planned attempt to usurp power would easily fail, it would provide a fatal distraction at a crucial point in time. (This could apply broadly to a few different people in the Admin)

I will not have a daughter. She would be as beautiful as she was evil, but one look at the hero’s rugged countenance and she’d betray her own father. (Would Ivonka betray him? Yes, definitely.)

I will maintain a realistic assessment of my strengths and weaknesses. Even though this takes some of the fun out of the job, at least I will never utter the line “No, this cannot be! I AM INVINCIBLE!!!” (After that, death is usually instantaneous.) (Fascism never has a realistic assessment of strengths and weaknesses)

I will maintain a healthy amount of skepticism when I capture the beautiful rebel and she claims she is attracted to my power and good looks and will gladly betray her companions if I just let her in on my plans. (I don’t know that this has specifically happened, but I bet Trump would fall for it)

I will never build a sentient computer smarter than I am. (LLMs ain’t smart, but a Raspberry Pi can run one smarter than Trump)
