I’m looking for suggestions for my drum jam-along playlist, so any song you love that has a good beat I’m open to. Whatcha got?
Edit: for clarification my plan is to add all these to a playlist and tomorrow my practice session is gonna just be jamming to that playlist. Load me up!
Idk, I’ve been listening to reggae, ska, ska punk
Avatar - Smells Like a Freakshow
This one flew under my radar until a couple days ago - little more repetitive than I usually like, but the beat do be killer.
Edit - actually now that I think of it, Avatar has pretty aggressive beats across the board - might want to dig through their other stuff too.
Have fun! Meshuggah - Clockworks
I’m a sucker for simple deep beats so Run to Me by Clarence Coffee Jr
Sounds like a melody by A life divided
- Enough by Disturbed
- Seven Nation Army by the White Stripes.
- Take Me Out by Franz Ferdinand
- Hootsforce by Gloryhammer
- Mine Mine Mine by Wind Rose
- Four To Six by Math The Band
Hows about Feuerhake - Tic Tac
- Kashmir - Led Zeppelin. Really anything from Physical Graffiti or by John Bonham.
- Caravan - Buddy Rich
- The Blues Walk - Max Roach & Clifford Brown
- Tom Sawyer - Rush. Or really anything else with Neil Peart.
- John the Fisherman - Primus. They won’t be the same since Tim “Herb” Alexander left the band, but I’m sure he has his reasons.(also: Hamburger Train, Over the Electric Grapevine, Tommy the Cat, Mr. Knowitall, Harold of the Rocks)
- Discipline - King Crimson (also: Thela Hun Ginjeet and most of the rest of the album, which seems to mostly treat the guitar as a percussion instrument more than most.)
Sorry if these are cliche.
I love watching the studio video of Tom Sawyer. The intensity of all of them when they record that, especially Peart.
Thanks, I hadn’t seen that before, that was fun
Lemon Demon - My Trains [Youtube]
(I don’t know much about drums but this song just sounds really good)
“The Real Me” by The Who.
Entwistle’s bass playing is so fucking solid, and Keith Moon’s drumming is insane. The Real Me” by The Who
Moonie’s isolated drums.
Here’s what I came up with out of my song sifting. I was going to place them in order as to how hard they might be to play… then I realized that wouldn’t matter, as it’s different for everyone. Ha. Enjoy.
Avenged Sevenfold - Bat Country
Bring Me The Horizon - The House of Wolves
Victorious is a trans woman anthem honestly. Listened to it a lot early in my transition.
It’s a suitable song for a lot of people. Since becoming an uncle, I tend to think of my niece when I listen to it. (Which reminds me… I should text her.)
Yeah, sorry, I didn’t mean to say it was exclusively. It’s just really powerful for all women ☺️
Damn, Rabbit Junk reference in the wild. First time ever for me.
DatA - Skywriter, for sure
“Driving with the top down” Tony Stark’s first flight with the Mark 2. I found a metal cover on Youtube.
