Authorities have not named the suspect, but Jackson Township police are working with prosecutors to determine charges.

Attempted murder comes to mind.

There’s more details here, and a statement from the driver. The 77 year old driver claims he doesn’t recall hitting anyone, he’s not against the protest, and that the police waived him on.

“I didn’t even see those people. I was just, you know, driving home and that was it,” he said. “I hope I didn’t hurt anybody bad or anything like that.”

The pedestrian that got hit wasn’t in the road they were off to the side. Even if we believe this guy just made an oopsie, and it wasn’t intentional, it’s clear this man is a danger behind the wheel. Also, this source is behind a paywall. Edit, went into the pages source code to pull the text of the article.

A 77-year-old motorist who struck a protester at a No Kings rally and then left the scene says he has no recollection of the crash.“I don’t even remember it happening,” he told the Canton Repository in a telephone interview on Oct. 20. “It wasn’t anything like on purpose.”

At the very least, that guy should have his license removed or be forced to have a behind the wheel examination.
