I’m sure they’re extremely outraged that someone was killed for their opinion. Totally sure.

He wasn’t killed for his opinion. He was a bystander killed by stray bullets from a trigger happy protester shooting at another protester.

Worse. He was killed by security shooting at a perceived threat. A “good guy with a gun” who made shit worse.

I was in the march and I gotta say the situation has me exhausted. A thoroughly shitty situation and far too complex for hot takes.

Supposedly the guy kept the rifle in a bag until halfway into the march. Not a great look. It seems the “security” chose to take a shot at him from the other side of the crowd. Stupid to say the least.

If it goes to court it’ll be complicated and drawn out. I think the only thing we can all agree on conclusively right now is that it was a tragedy.

This poor woman is way better off suing both men in civil court, than if she’s expecting them to face any consequences in criminal court. As far as I’m concerned, they’re both responsible for gross negligence resulting in her husband’s death.

      Fuck Utah gun laws.

Police have not charged or publicly identified the safety volunteer who shot at Gamboa and fatally struck Ah Loo. But authorities have said they’re investigating whether that man was justified in firing his handgun.

Attorneys for Laura Ah Loo called out the safety volunteer by name Wednesday and said they will pursue a wrongful death lawsuit against him in coming weeks. They also said charges should be filed against the volunteer and called for more transparency from authorities.

The Associated Press is not naming the volunteer because he has not been publicly identified by authorities.

I’m guessing the shooter is a cop or ex-LEO or something like that. Hopefully the civil case can get some justice, because this justice system definitely protects its own unfortunately.

What more is there to investigate? What more information could they possibly be seeking out before making a decision one way or another.

They’re just sitting on this until enough time has passed for them to drop it officially.

But legal experts say criminal charges are unlikely.

The right to self defense and the right to carry a firearm are both strong in Utah, Vilos said, and prosecutors would face a high bar in trying to prove criminal charges against either man.

    If everyone’s armed, everyone’s threatened. 🤷🏻‍♂️
