I wish this was an inflated title but no, he really said this.
America, you need to get rid of this asshole ASAP.

Thanks @notarobot@lemmy.zip
- Why does he capitalize random words? - He’s old and his last bout of formative education predates most of our parents’ lives.

- We have the technology, the time is now to blow up the moon, children are our future. - Unfortunately, we do not in fact have the technology necessary to blow up the Moon. - i cannot stop laughing at this i dont know why

- Why? They work… We checked. - Orange Don wants to make sure he can launch them the next time someone calls him names, without anyone being able to stop him

- don’t indulge his bullshit attempt to rename the DOD
- Dumbass probably watched a movie and was like duuuuh that looks cool lolz…. - He’s going to look at one directly, just like he did with the eclipse.

- Choose one…global warming or nuclear winter. I think that is our futures only options. - There’s always the mass-extinction asteroid option to look forward to.

- This is horrifying. Like, mind-bogglingly bad. - It’s also a blatant lie. Other countries are not testing nuclear weapons, they’re running simulations. We didn’t do that in the 60s because it wasn’t possible, but the US (and presumably China/Russia) literally have giant supercomputers for this purpose now. - …And we would know if they were doing real testing because it would show up on seismographs.
 - But who cares about truth? Or sanity? No, all my relatives (even scientifically minded ones) won’t even bat an eye, lest some Democrat steal their retirement, ugh. - Trumplethinskin is too stupid to understand any of that . He desperately wants to to be the one to trigger a spectacular overreaction and turn another country into glass. - #smallcarrotproblems
- show up on seismographs - and any surface tests would show up on sattelites

- Even if it wasn’t for the other million reasons, this guy’s grammar alone should disqualify him from having the nuclear codes. - Secured safely in the bathroom of his golf course.

- Are any other countries actually actively testing nuclear weapons?
(I don’t think North Korea counts/is.)- Not really. We know they work. - It’s very expensive too. It takes a LOT of time and resources to make spicy rocks even more spicy. It’s a huge waste of money to test a system we perfected decades ago when you can simulate detonations for almost nothing.

- A giant waste of money. 800 nukes is plenty for pretty much anything and launching 100 would probably mean the end of life as we know it on planet earth. If you wanted to blow a bunch of money on the military there are better ways to do it. - 100 would probably mean the end of life as we know it on planet earth - It would alter the course of human history for sure, but it wouldn’t actually end human civilization. Just being annoyingly pedantic after growing up in the cold war and learning about such cheerful topics as fallout patterns and blast wave radius and how to fashion air purifiers from an early age.

- If you wanted to blow a bunch of money on the military there are better ways to do it. - Ohh we got you fam.
- True, but don’t tell them that, it’s better if they waste money on useless nuclears than genocide technology.
- Do you mean 100 all at once? Because we’ve been averaging 26.5 per year for the last 80 years

- Just shows he is desperately trying to create many more distractions from the Epstein files to see what works.
- Testing for what exactly? Do we not know enough about them already? - Primative chest pounding. He has to prove his chest makes a bigger sound. Or his nuke is bigger than their dick.
- Gotta keep them hurricanes scared.

- The real crazy people who would cause a nuclear wae are israel and the usa leaders not Iran - lol imagine simping for the irgc - I am not simping. Iran isn’t seeking nukes by american admission. I never justified Iran human right abuses.

- As if nuking Russia would help. They have the Dead-Hand system. No one wins here. - If it’s anything like the rest of their military equipment, I’m not too worried about it. - I used to listen to a podcast from Latvia that reported on the war in Ukraine, I can’t remember the name of the show, sorry. The guy seemed to be very knowledgeable about Russia and one thing he stressed was while the Russian military was corrupt and inept, the troops involved with nukes were still highly educated and hand picked and trained by people from within the corps.
- Given the dead-hand policy, that’s easily the most dangerous mindset I’ve read on Lemmy. - It should make you more worried, lest faulty equipment leads to another incident like this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1983_Soviet_nuclear_false_alarm_incident - And we don’t have someone like Stanislav Petrov literally risking his neck to save civilization.

- ffs we’re still in 2025 man.
