He looks kinda badass with so many cops and the freaking mayor behind him like they’re his entourage, or like he so dangerous that they need 30 men to control him.

I’d say this “perp walk” backfired.

The victim doesn’t matter unless they are worth millions of dollars or stand to help others win or loss millions.

When you think about it … the system isn’t protecting people, whether they are rich or not … the system is just thinking about protecting wealth and capital.

They ain’t seen nothing yet if they make this dude a martyr. I’m not a violent person, but there’s a pent up frustration inside a lot of us just itching for a reason to come out and redistribute some wealth. Stock of United Healthcare still in the shitter? That was rich people losing billions.

That’s the only thing these parasites care about: their life and their money. We have been shown that any of us have the power to take away both in a single act of targeted violence. Once we collectively realize that, shit will go down.

The federal complaint filed Thursday charges Mangione with two counts of stalking and one count each of murder through use of a firearm and a firearms offense. Murder by firearm carries the possibility of the death penalty, though federal prosecutors will determine whether to pursue that path in coming months.

In a state court indictment announced earlier this week, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office charged Mangione with murder as an act of terrorism, which carries a possible sentence of life in prison without parole. New York does not have the death penalty.

Mangione’s lawyer, Karen Friedman Agnifilo, said it’s a “highly unusual situation” for a defendant face simultaneous state and federal cases.

“Frankly I’ve never seen anything like what is happening here,” said Friedman Agnifilo, a former top deputy in the Manhattan district attorney’s office.

Unfortunately it’s becoming more common, and it is legal

There won’t be any riots. The reason this guy acted at all is because the people are too cowed. There are thousands of people in the same position as him, but none of them are taking any action. Tens of thousands more are in a similar position, but are they already in the streets? No.

This guy is a celebrity because he’s doing what everyone wishes they could do, but are afraid to do themselves. The quick arrest and trial are to remind people of what will happen to them, too, if they step out of line.

          Hopefully you’re right.

I think a big part of the problem with that coming to be so is that there is probably a majority of people who understand that our health care system is screwed and screws people over, but so many of them don’t have any idea or understanding of why. And they’re not aware of the class war.

          What?

We already found out if they’re going for it, they are.

Do you think they’ll get the death penalty and not enforce it?

Like, I don’t understand what you think we’ll find out later. Or why we haven’t crossed your personal threshold for them wanting the death penalty yet.

That’s how it works, yes. Somebody being eligible for the death sentence doesn’t mean that the prosecution is going to push for it or that the jury will decide it is warranted versus life in prison or some other sentence.

Penalties for being found guilty of a crime are “up to” whatever the max is. You don’t automatically get the max.

The reason they included the spurious terrorism charge is that’s what takes it to murder 1 and the death penalty…

That’s the state charge, and the state does not have the death penalty. The federal charge of murder with a firearm carries the potential for the death penalty.
